Ski-runs on three levels – revel in this sporting region’s sunny ski meadows! Great beginner’s ski school facilities in a high alpine setting. As a year-round ski resort, the Dachstein glacier, at 2,700 m, is the centre of the Nordic world elite. The resort is a member of the Amade ski network with 860 km of slopes and a 3.5 km evening toboggan run on the Rittisberg.
“Kali’s Winter Wonderland“ in Ramsau am Dachstein
A winter fairy-tale comes true for young visitors to Ramsau. Kali, the area’s dragon mascot, symbolically accompanies the kids on all 7 stages of their magical experience, as fairy-tales are re-enacted on the lifts and slopes.
The kids can thus ski up to the eagle’s nest and settle down for a story. Wooden placards by the lifts and along the slopes tell more eagle stories, while the children follow an acoustic trail on the search for the rock crystal queen in the rock crystal caves. And things just get bigger and better by the magic lift in Ramsau, for the 5-metre high, colourful stone heads, named Eisklotte, Tannendreher, Ernstlisch, Blasebüü and Doppelschlau also captivate the kids with wonderful stories. For example, the giant called “Tannendreher” relates how the region’s pines got the knack of finding a good place to grow.
The ski instructors in Ramsau also teach the kids magic tricks, helping them to hone their skills on the slopes in the process, e.g. with the correct plough and parallel techniques.
